Tired of burgers and brats? Grill some salmon steaks instead.
There are so many ways to prepare this hearty, fresh catch that you’ll be
looking for new recipes all summer! The great thing about salmon is the abundance
of natural flavor that exists before you even consider adding seasoning or
sauce.
Salmon grills well with several herbs, light oils, and marinades.
Consider citrus and sweet flavorings, honey BBQ or Cajun seasonings, and even
corn or mango salsas. Marinade and chill in advance or simply apply seasoning
prior to grilling. Each fillet or steak cooks for about 3-4 minutes on each
side. Saving some marinade to apply during grilling helps to keep the fish
moist. Here are a some favorites to consider:
Salmon with Honey Soy
- Marinade by brushing with an equal mixture of the following, one tablespoon
each: olive or vegetable oil, melted butter or margarine, brown sugar, honey,
soy and chopped or dried garlic.
Enjoy your steaks with some grilled potatoes and
fresh vegetables.
Prepare vegetables and potatoes by wrapping in foil with
olive oil, butter, margarine and light seasoning as desired. Most vegetables
take about 10-15 minutes on the grill in a foil packet while potatoes and corn
take 20-30 minutes.
For dessert, prepare and cook at the same time as you’re
making dinner. Fruit kabobs made with pineapple, melons and kiwis make for a
colorful and tasty. No need to add anything as they grill with their own
natural juices. Enjoy this tasty finish to your meal.
