So, I thought I would do something different today.  Many times, we get lost in the definition of what a Foodie is.  Foodie tends to have a bit of an "uppity".  One website defines it as "a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food; a gourmet".

Well, we at FoodieGems want to take that down a notch or three.  We love food!  We love the unique hole-in-the-wall places where we can get great food!  We love funny pictures and videos about food!  We love creative food recipes!  We love food!

So, to break the ice, let me share with all of you some of my likes/dislikes about food.  You will find that I am as down-to-earth as the next person.  And down-to-earth people make down-to-earth sites.  So, let the sharing begin:

I love eating breakfast for dinner.

Mexican Breakfast should be the 6th Food Group.

Ranch, Pico de Gallo, and Tabasco are the three items that help me to eat things that I cannot eat.

The texture of food messes me up mentally.  I can handle raw carrots, but once you cook them, my gag reflex kicks in.

I secretly love to eat Uncrustables.

When I was a child, all I ate was Hamburgers and French Fries.  My father loved eating at a Chinese restaurant where I grew up in San Francisco.  Whenever we ate there, I would still order a Hamburger and French Fries and they served it to me.

I found out over 25 years later that this same Chinese Restaurant (PunJab's on the corner of 24th and Bryant in San Francisco) would go across the street to St. Francis and get me a hamburger and french fries and serve it to me.  They never once made the food in-house.  Incredible service!  I guess that's why they still exist today!

I love fried McDonald's Cherry Pies (when they actually have them in-stock).

I don't like my food touching.  If it is touching, I have to eat the "intersected" areas of food FIRST before I can continue to enjoy my meal.

When I eat French Fries from Wendy's, I have to mix mayo, ketchup, and their chili seasoning packets!  It is incredible!  Try it sometime!

When I eat fish, I love to add a layer of tartar sauce, then sprinkle lemon pepper all over it (not too much), and then add louisiana hot sauce to it.  It is amazing!  I have to thank Mark V. of San Antonio, Texas for that gem!

I love dipping flour tortillas (not chips) in hot sauce and queso.

When I eat Raisin Bran, I have to sprinkle a ton of sugar on it to make it taste good.

I love grapes, just not the ones with the seeds in them.  Oh, which reminds me....

I don't like eating any foods that require work.  For example, I love corn; but not corn on the cob.

Frito Pie!  Need I say more?

I prefer soft serve ice cream over the real stuff.

When eating a root beer float, it must have more root beer than ice cream.

I don't share food very well.  Not sure why that is.

I can eat the exact same thing or eat at the same restaurant several days in a row.  Or, just because I ate Italian for lunch doesn't mean I won't eat it for dinner.

Sometime, food from a food truck or food tent is waaaay better than a sit-down restaurant.

My definition of "dinner and a movie" is eating nachos and a hot dog while at the movie.  Multitasking!

Love the definition of Thanksgiving and what it represents.  But in order to eat the turkey, I smother it in gravy and pico de gallo.  Try it, it's amazing!!

So, I have shared a lot.  And I hope that I also showed that I have very down-to-earth "likes regarding food.  Our site is not about the "fu fu" side of food.  It's about FOOD!  FOOD!  FOOD!

So, Fellow Foodies:  My challenge to each of you is to hit me up on Twitter (@foodiegems) or on Facebook and tell me a couple of things about your food likes.  Also, come to our site and become a Foodie.  http://www.foodiegems.com/become-a-foodie.html

We want to share the best of what Food has to offer each of us!

Thank you for your time today.  And I hope to hear from you all soon!

Take care and God Bless!

TQ
