We all scream for Ice Cream! #Recipes

It’s summer and you may be able to fry an egg on a sidewalk, but that’s hardly what you’re craving when it’s this hot outside! What are your favorite summer sounds? Kids playing? Sprinklers going? How about the sound of the ice cream truck song playing over and over as it drives around your neighborhood? In case the truck passes you by, here are is a yummy, homemade ice cream recipe to keep you cool.

Ice cream in a bag:

-          3-4 cups Ice, crushed or cubed cubes (enough to fill up large or gallon size bag about half full)
-          1 cup milk or half & half
-          6 tablespoons salt
-          2 tablespoons sugar
-          ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
-          Small or pint-size plastic bag
-          Large or gallon-size plastic bag
-          Extras as desired: chocolate chips, berries, nuts, etc.

Combine sugar, milk or half & half and vanilla in small plastic bag. Seal bag tightly, removing as much air as possible. Put half of the ice and salt into the large bag. Place small bag inside the large bag then put the rest of the ice and salt in around the small bag. Shake the bag about 5 minutes until the mixture hardens. Feel the smaller bag to determine desired consistency. Take small bag out, mix in extras as desired, and eat right out of the bag.

To make ice cream sandwiches, freeze the ice cream or make right when your cookies are done baking. You can use homemade cookies or store-bought but homemade cookies might be softer and hold the ice cream better. Simply take two cookies, put ice cream in center and eat! Add some whipped cream, cherries or chocolate syrup as toppings if desired.

To make brownie ice cream sandwiches, make brownies as indicated then let cool before cutting. Place scoops or ice cream in between brownie slices and enjoy! Add toppings or extras as desired. Enjoy!
