Lazy Summer Fruit Salad Days #Recipes

If it's too hot to think about standing over the stove, stroll the produce aisle  instead to find the best summer fruit salad selections. Then pull out the salad crisper to mix up your favorite greens with the season's freshest fruit. Create your very own, refreshingly cool, lunch or dinner fruit salad delight! FoodieGems is all about finding new ways to enjoy old favorites!

Summer fruit salads offer a variety of options as colorful as any row at the local farmer's market. First, select from the favorite lettuce choices that add extra color, taste and texture include: leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, red lettuce and spinach.

Second, add your favorite berry, grape, citrus or melon. Consider grilled slices of pineapple, peach, pear or mango for a different flavor. Add cherry tomatoes or thick tomato slices. If you like nuts as a source of protein, walnuts, hazelnuts or macadamias go well with the sweet taste of fruit. For more protein, add slices of ham, chicken or turkey. Crumbled goat or bleu cheese are a nice source of protein and add even more flavor.

Apples chunks and melon balls to help salad flavors stand out? Adding a bit of basil or cilantro enhances those flavors even more.
