Summer's Perfect Peach Cobbler #Recipe

Celebrate summer produce selections by picking the season's best peaches. Local farmer's markets and produce aisles display exceptional, juicy choices of fresh peach varieties this time of year. When comparing apples to apples, FoodieGems is always looking for the best peach.

Summer's Perfect Peach Cobbler

- Slice 3-4 cups fresh peaches. Set aside.
- Take a pinch under 1/8 teaspoon salt, add 3/4 cup flour and 2 teaspoons baking powder. Sift together. Mix in 1 & 1/2 cups sugar. Slowly stir in 3/4 cup milk. Set aside.
- Melt 1/2 cup butter in 8x8 inch pan. Use a 9x13 for a thinner crust. Pour batter over butter but don't stir. Lay peaches on batter. On top, sprinkle with mixture of 1/4 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.
- Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Serves 6. Top with ice cream or whipped cream while warm, if desired.
- Variation: Pour 1/4 cup of Amaretto on bottom of pan with the butter to bake the flavor in the peaches before adding the peaches, batter & sprinkle.
- Peach crumble is made by mixing 1/2 cup melted butter with the dry ingredients instead, of milk. Set aside. Lay peaches in pan on melted butter, then shake thick, crumbled mixture on top with sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg sprinkled over that. Cook as previously directed.

Sliced, diced, chilled or grilled, peaches are a tasty, refreshing dessert or snack option on a summer day.
