Cajun Fried Chicken #Recipe

Looking for a simple, fried chicken recipe? Here's one with a Cajun kick! A southern cooking classic, fried chicken is a family favorite around the country. Cut, mix, fry and serve. It's easy than it seems and tastier every time you make it. See why this will always be a FoodieGems favorite.

Ingredients:
  • One 3-4 pound chicken, whole or pre-cut into pieces
  • 2 teaspoons Lawry's seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk, shaken well
  • 3 cups vegetable oil, shortening or bacon drippings
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs

  • Using a grocery bag, mix flour and dry seasonings. Set aside. Beat eggs then mix with milk in a bowl. Dip pieces of cut chicken in bowl then place in the bag and shake, shake, shake until fully coated.

In the skillet or pan, heat the oil or shortening on medium-high heat to a low "boil", at least halfway full. Make sure the pan of grease is hot enough to fry at 350 or 375 degrees. Pour some flour or leftover flour mix in the pan. When it starts bubbling, place the chicken in. Keep turning until the chicken pieces are golden brown and crispy.

Cast-iron skillet fried chicken is the old-fashioned, choice option for creating this authentic southern-style flavor.

Use the same skillet and grease to also fry up some skillet potatoes. Or add some other classic sides.

What are some of your favorite fried chicken places? We would love to know!
